CommCap also provides assistance in the form of a bridge loan or line of credit to nonprofits that have been awarded grants, but have yet to receive the actual funds. This allows the nonprofit to continue to implement programs until such time as the funds are received.
Habitat for Humanity
A CommCap line of credit enabled Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County to commence and manage its construction projects in an orderly fashion, even while its sponsor organizations were still assembling the projects funding. In 2007 Habitat’s credit line was increased from $200,000 to $400,000, allowing them the flexibility to start bigger projects, such as the twelve condos under construction in a turn of the century brownstone on the corner of Barnum Ave and William St.
